Discussion group: Science – New Frontiers

«Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known» Carl Sagan

The pursuit of science remains an ambiguous and opaque subject for the majority of us: in our collective imagination, we picture science as an unimaginative, dispassionate activity for extraordinary individuals obsessed with abstract ideas and mathematical formula. We dismiss science, presuming it is all about facts and theories that, once proven, are engrained in stone, much like the human laws we all must abide by. Nothing, however, could be further from the truth. From parallel universes to quantum uncertainty, to black holes to emergence of life and intelligence, science reveals a long forgotten romantic belief that our world is full of wonders, indescribable beauties and ineffable phenomena. Nothing like a collection of facts, science is an unending adventure on the brink of the known for those who have the courage and unquenchable thirst to know. If you are one of those, come join us on Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m., in our attempt to demystify science and uncover how it helped shape our civilization and us!  Led by Alex Martya. (In English)
