«The History of Freemasons in America»

A little discussed, but seemingly ubiquitous part of America’s early history is that of Freemasonry. This ancient secret society has long been the subject of various conspiracy theories and far-fetched legends, but it is prevalence in 18th and 19th century society is undeniable; 21 of the delegates who signed the Declaration of Independence were Masons, including George Washington himself. Masonic imagery and tradition is found in many parts of early American culture–even on the back of the dollar bill. In this History Club we will discuss the significance of Freemasonry in early American society, the prominent American figures, and its possible impact on the course of American history. Event is hosted by a native speaker from the United States. Please join us on Saturday, October 13 at 2 p.m. Meetings are held in English.
