«Great depression»

Starting from the stock market crash on Black Tuesday, the American economy quickly reached it’s all time low in 1929 until the start of World War II. Franklin Roosevelt is one of the most popular presidents in US history because of his “New Deal,” which was credited for getting the country out of the New Deal. But was it really this simple? Did Roosevelt’s social plans create jobs or did they cripple private businesses? Did he end the crisis or prolong it? In this history club we discuss the nuances of the Great Depression and Roosevelt’s early presidency. Event is hosted by a native speaker from the United States. Please join us on Saturday, January 27 at 4.00 p.m. Meetings are held in English.
