Lecture: «America, Cooper and Me»

Dear patrons, you are welcome to take part in an interactive event, dedicated to American culture and literature of the Romantic movement. The presenter is a contemporary researcher of John Fenimore Cooper life and work will talk about her own way to writer’s legacy. Not everyone is aware of the fact that Cooper, known in Russia by the images of Chingachgook and Uncas “The Last of the Mohicans”, is the founder of American national literature, a person who created more than 30 novels for 31 years of his artistic work. Cooper spent seven years in Europe, which gave him rich material for comparison with his Motherland. The representation of America in Cooper’s creative work deserves special attention and will be analyzed at the event with the help of illustrative materials. Please join us on Monday, May 28 at 7 p.m. (in English)
