Lecture: «Sherwood Anderson – a “writers’ writer”»

Sherwood Anderson was a short-story writer and novelist. Although none of his novels was wholly successful, several of his short stories have become classics. His work’s influence on American fiction was profound, and its literary voice can be heard in Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe, John Steinbeck and many others. He thus occupies a place in literary history that cannot be fully explained by the literary quality of his work. At the seminar we will have a closer look into a few stories from Anderson’s most notable collection Winesburg, Ohio. Please join us on Wednesday, November 21 at 7 p.m. Led by Anna Dvoretskaya, senior teacher of English at RANEPA, has a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certificate.
