Hula dance is associated with cheerful smiling girls rocking their hips in a lovely way and sharing stories of the Hawaiian islands with smooth movements of hands. In hula everything matters, every wave of a palm is a vivid image. Dancers tell us about love, friendship, beauty of the islands. They can imitate the sun, ocean, mountains, land, trees, rain, rainbow and birds.
Every person who loves to dance or just enjoys moving to a tune can hula. There is no routine drilling, it is easy to remember the movements if you know the text of the song. Dancers of the Halau Hula ‘O Kapuakea will perform and conduct a hula workshop for all who come. Aloha and welcome on Friday, August 3 at 7 p.m.!
