Musical as an American phenomenon: Broadway hits of the 90s

Musical as an American phenomenon: Broadway hits of the 90s

Join us for a lecture on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:00p.m. You will make a fascinating trip around the world of American musicals. Musical is part and parcel of popular culture in America today. At the 4th lecture of the course, you will continue the acquaintance with the history of this phenomenon.

From Sunset Boulevard to The Lion King, the ’90s saw a number of hit musicals that were popular with theater audiences. While going to the theater has always been (and still is) considered to be pretty high-brow, many 1990s musicals introduced fun, accessible elements like rock music and youthful themes that appealed to a younger generation. At the lecture you will learn a lot of interesting facts and watch highlights from the best of them.

We will be glad to see you on June 29 at The American cultural center!

The event will be held in English. Led by ACC coordinator Irina Dobrovolskaya.
