!!! EVENT CANCELLATION !!! Lecture: South Africa in the 1970s

We are continue to explore the world’s diversity through our lectures series dedicated to different countries. This time we will find out about personal life experience of living in South Africa in 1970s, from our guest lecturer Ian Mitchell. Ian Mitchell is a Scotsman who grew up in South Africa in the 1960s after his father, who was a publisher, and was posted to Johannesburg. Ian went to university there in the early 1970s and worked briefly on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange before returning to Britain. He has been back to South Africa on several occasions since, and lived for a year in Cape Town in the mid-1980s. He will describe different aspects of life under apartheid and end with a brief overview of the situation as he sees it in the country today. Please join us on Thursday, July 7th at 7p.m. for this inspiring and interesting lecture.
