The Hebrides: Scotland’s islands – in history and the present

We are honored to announce the beginning of lecture series on English-speaking countries. The first lecture “The Hebrides: Scotland’s islands – in history and the present” will take place on Thursday, March 17th at 7p.m., to be given by Scottish journalist and author Ian Mitchell.

Ian Mitchell will talk about the Hebridean islands that lie off the west coast of Scotland. They are the heartland of the Gaelic culture of Scotland today and were the base for the Lordship of the Isles in medieval times. In between, they have had a colourful history, featuring boats, battles and barrels of whisky. Ian has written two books about sailing in his own boat around these islands, and he lived on the isle of Islay (which has 8 whisky distilleries) for 13 years. He has three, Gaelic-speaking children who still live there.

Join us on Thursday, March 17th at 7p.m. for a wonderful trip around Scotland with Ian Mitchell.
