Attention please! Event is canceled!

While the Napoleonic wars were raging in Europe and the French were invading Russia, the Americans were fighting the British in their own War of 1812. This strange and largely unwanted war accomplished little in terms of changes of territory or economic advantages, yet it did play a large role in the American mentality and gave the people of the U.S. a sense of purpose and national unity that was previously lacking in the politics and culture of the country.

So why did this war happen? What were the results? And what does the war mean to Americans today? Join us on Saturday, December 8 at 2.00 p.m. to discuss these questions and the history of the War of 1812!

Event is hosted by a native speaker from the United States.
