The American Cultural Center is glad to announce that it will launch a new venue – History club. This will be a place for a history buffs. American science fiction is a staple of modern popular culture worldwide. It is impossible to imagine Hollywood without films such as George Lucas’ Star Wars or television series like Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek, while writers such as Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov have contributed not only to science fiction as a genre of literature, but to the way we actually perceive and envision the future. But how did American science fiction become the heavyweight that it is today? In this History Club we will discuss the roots of science fiction in America, its birth as self-conscious genre, and its influence on society, politics, and innovation. Event is hosted by a native speaker from the United States. Please join us on Saturday, October 21 at 2.00 p.m. Meetings are held in English.
